R4 update pass 1.18 with M3 simply firmware?

I've been out of the DS cart scene for awhile now and was wondering if there were any new R4 updates. Seems like the latest was released more than a year ago. I vaguely remember the R4 and M3 had similar hardware so the firmware was interchangeable. Am I missing anything or am I stuck with the 1.18 and need to move on to better and greater things?

im sure you can use YSmenu on a R4 it improves compatibility but i dont know how you do it sorry

I guess they left.  0shippingzone is cheaper than realhotstuff.  Also they have good service.
