i've got here with me yet another ds lite, only this one shipped today to my local shop, and should ship tomorrow to some obscure place in europe.

problem is, when trying to flash the latest flashme v7 i just downloaded from the official site, the one that keeps the lighting level setting feature, flashme says "your firmware is not recognized". actually, i just updated my lite to that one and it worked. (i was using the one without lighting settings).

i don't think flashme said that when i first flashed my own lite, however i'd try and flash it, if it weren't for a friend.

can you confirm it is a new firmware?
does anyone know what would happen if i did it?

hope my friend mails back and asks me to do it.
stay tuned... i mean help!

If I understand you correctly you'd already applied the old flashme to your lite? I'd guess that might be why the new lite supporting flashme got confused... anyone else seen similar?

sorry for being confusing.

let's talk about this new lite:
i haven't applied anything. flashme doesn't recognize the firmware.

and an older v7 of flashme did recognize the firmware on my older lite.
so i think maybe it's a new firmware and i don't feel a lot like flashing this new ds, since it's not mine.

but my friend doesn't have superpass2, so it's me or nobody. :)

An older flashme V7? the only older one had no support for lites and would have displayed "the your firmware is not recognized" -  if you weren't running that version what did you mean by "(i was using the one without lighting settings)"...

yeah, that flashme that wasnt compatible with lite - i think it did recognize the firmware on my older lite. i'm not sure, anyway. anyone know if it's normal that flashme doesn't recognize lite's firmware?

however, the newest v7 doesn't recognize the firmware on my new (just shipped) lite.

so do you think the firmware is different?
i'm kinda scared to flash this new lite.

sorry about my english. i'm a spanish living in japan, but my english is awful.

No the older flashme didn't know about lites. Only the very latest official version does. Its certainly possible you have a lite with a new firmware though... but I'd double / tripple check you have the latest version fyi the md5 for the latest is fa220267edb05f4386025d97e2168f3f *flashme.nds

thank you for the checksum! and for all.
i was using that one and it doesn't recognize it.
so i guess it's a new firmware?

how do you feel about the chances it'll get bricked?

Interesting, I have no idea if it would work. I certainly imagine its possible, but most likely you may not be able to restore the exact same fw revision if you uninstalled it.  Are you able to dump the firmware? You could then send if off to Loopy and the flashme guys... also they'd be able to give you an more solid answer on if its safe to proceed currently...

from your description, i believe that your new lite has a newer version of firmware.  Whether it will still be flashable with flashme 7 (w/ lite support) is hard to say.  But it definitely sounds like they have altered the firmware a bit, because v.7 lite should pick up a DS Lite as firmware v7.

it works!
booting sc and setting the lighting both work.

thank you for the support, but sorry i haven't been able to dump the firmware. only had these 5min this morning to set it up, and don't have a clue about dumping that. i don't even have a pc with a parallel port, often needed for this stuff.
