MEH .... this Guide better work JMR lol ;)

Got a DS PHAT case comming from DX as my lad decided that maby his Ltd edition Blue Phat would work well as a basket ball but found it BROKE when he dropped it DOH! :(

looks pretty simple to sort out but a tad more complex than the PSP screen I changed recently on ELDEST sons PSP ... Damn kids are Clumsy in this house meh!!!!

Anyone got any tips on this guide or experience in what to look out for ??

I know that the ribbon cables have to have extra care with them  :)

Here is a pretty good video demonstration of dismantling a DS, even though it was recorded in Spain . . .

nice video there bitblt thanks for posting that link ... Does not look as daunting as I first thought ... now I just need to find a video with it all in REVERSE otherwise I will be stuck with a perfectly disassembled ds and no way to get it back together lol :P ;)

Now just 2 weeks of waiting from DX to get his nice new metallic Blue case and he will be a happy chappy :)

But .....2 weeks is better than the £50 Nintendo wanted to charge me to do the same job that's going to cost me less than $10 (£6) and that's for both a replacement Phat casing and a tri Wing Screwdriver and free delivery Whooooot :)

whoooot PHAT CASE changed successfully!!!

I didn't use the video I Just used JMR's guide the video was too much of a PITA to keep stopping and rewinding!

BIG THANKS to JMR and this guide! ;)

My only gripes tho and issues there was no mention in the guide about the antenna wire .. of how to detach it from the board!....... figured out though ...you just need to lift it carefully at the SPADE end near the PCB and it will just clip off and putting it back is just a case of pressing it down again back on the socket it unclipped from :)

oh and the HINGE PINS are also a PITA to get back into a cheapo case from DealExtreme I had to shave a little off the inside of the HINGE pin hole to get it to push through and had to use a pair of pliers carefully to squeeze it in that last few all important millimeters doh!

took longer to get the damn PINS back in than to do the actual case change lol!

and the last little pita was the screw near the SLOT 1 slot on the replacement case it was too big for a normal screw that was with the kit or from the old case so had to sacrifice a screw out of an old calculator to fit the hole and screw that part of the case back together doh! again!

all together and all working now :)

finally AMUSING to see the box that the new case in says NINETENDO on it I lmao @ that!!! :D
