so who is the lucky one who purchased the 1st batch of the M3 simply and R4, In Hong Kong when the R4 was totally sold out after about a week from there released date , it took them about 1 and a half week to released the second batch, during this time, we all though they were busy producing more stock, well we were wrong, they were redesigning the PCB on the best selling M3 simply and R4.

so what's the differences:

new style carrying case for cards with out chain

new microsd card reader, more reliable

new designed PCB, so no more M3 simply and R4 conversion, but it does retain the language conversion.

on the photo you will see that the four jumpers on the left side of the PCB were left with just one.

also the prices is increased from when I made my purchased at USD 29 to USD 40.

It means that you will not beable to make a jumper or disconnect it to make the cart into a M3 or R4.  I forget which way it goes, so I will just say if you have an R4 if you bridge a certain part you will now be able to run M3 simply firmware, but will not be able to run R4 unless bridge is broken.  Some people have made a built in switch so that they can easily switch back and forth from R4/M3

both pic are R4, if you connect the second jumper, it will run M3 f/w, also if the fourth jumper is disconnected, it will display chinese language menu.

I guess we need internal pics of the M3 redesign as well.

More photos would be good Smiley - keychain, backside of the pcb if its different.. etc.

FFS it's the R4 Team that does the design, M3 Team just buys the cards from them and add us$5.00

Didn't it occur to you that R4 always comes out with a new firmware version first and that M3 has the same changes a few days later?

the under side of the PCB is the same, it's a double sided PCB, only the top half is altered.

did'nt take pics of the carrying case (just different shape and without the key chain, although there is a hole for a key chain to be added), or the card reader did'nt think it was that important.

Ah, no option for 'outsiders' then :? Though $45 shipped isn't too bad.

most of the mail orders are selling at 45-50USD from the begining, so it does'nt make any different, it's just ppl were expecting the old version, not new.

IMO, that "carrying case" is bullet, fire, explosion and, basically, everything-proof. Heck, I have a hard time trying to OPEN it... ¬¬
The USB reader is pretty good. It's incredibly useful when you need to get something in your TF and you're not at home. Way better than a micro to SD adapter (few PCs at ciber center do have SD readers incorporated). But still, whenever I need to get something OUT (copy it to a safe location for a format, ie), I use the adapter. I got some files corrupted last time I tried with the USB reader.
Is the "new, more reliable microSD reader" refers to the USB one or the onboard one? If the only differences are those, and the price increases, I'll be happier with my "first stock" purchase ^^

It looks to me like you can still do the M3/R4 mod thing, you just need to scratch off a bit of the green stuff and solder.  They just don't make it easy for you with the pads.
